Silk, a heritage to be preserved and supported

As a member of the Cévennes en Soie* association, I am proud to be part of the revival of a precious heritage: French silk. Historically, silk production has shaped the landscapes and communities of the Cévennes, a region that has been emblematic of this activity since the 17th century. At its peak, France was one of the largest silk producers in Europe, but this industry gradually declined in the face of industrialization and globalization.

Today, thanks to initiatives like those of Cévennes en Soie, silkworm farming is being reintroduced, promoting environmentally friendly practices and traditions. This revival not only supports a sustainable local economy but also preserves unique expertise passed down from generation to generation.

Supporting the revival of silk in France means contributing to the preservation of our heritage, encouraging responsible agriculture, and promoting products of exceptional quality. Every little helps to revive this legacy of excellence, which is an integral part of our country's identity. Thank you for supporting this wonderful adventure!
